Until now, you may have used the Keyword Tool and the Traffic Estimator for your AdWords campaign. However, just like other users, you too may have faced difficulties in using two different tools to seek out new keywords, new ad groups, get estimates on web traffic, select bids, and set budgets.
Well, Google has taken note of this issue and has launched the Keyword Planner, a new tool that combines Keyword Tool and Traffic Estimator. The Keyword Planner tool can be used to find new keywords, ad groups, receive performance estimates, and find matching bids and budgets that suit your strategy. You can then add these to your campaigns.
In addition, Keywords Planner features several new innovative features whereby you can multiply your keywords or can even merge two or more keywords to get brand new keywords. While you were able to only target countries when using Keyword Tool, you can now target specific cities and regions in a country when using the Keywords Planner.
You can also receive statistics specifically related to a particular term. You can just add a keyword to your chosen plan and view performance estimates for each match whenever you want to know as to which keyword match type to utilize.
You can also review keyword as well as ad group ideas and then add those to a plan. That plan can then be modified by adding or deleting ideas and you can even modify your bid range to view cost and total estimated clicks. You can choose a specific bid by clicking on “Get estimates and review plan” when you want to view estimates in detail after you have finished building a plan.
The detailed estimates report will enable you to view a graph containing performance estimates on a daily basis for your chosen keywords and ad groups as well as max CPC bids. You can fine tune your estimates by updating keywords, ad groups, and targeting settings as well as view how these changes can affect the performance.
Once you are happy with a plan then you can just apply it to an existing campaign, or create a new campaign, or even download it for future implementation.
Google has announced that it will be lowering the curtains on both the Keyword Tool and Traffic Estimator in around 60 days. You should study the differences between the older and new tools by visiting the AdWords Help Center. You can begin using the Keywords Planner tool after logging into AdWords.
