The company has now refreshed Google Currents, which is a handy app to help you locate, read, and share your favorite news as well as online magazines and blogs even when you are not online.
The refreshed Google Currents can help you view your favorite content that Google calls as editions such as IBNLive, ABP News, Hindustan Times, NDTV, Tehelka, Zig Wheels, Mid Day, etc. These editions can be accessed through your mobile phone or tablet. Google has adapted the same know-how behind its Search feature to help you read and share your chosen editions with ease.
Google has also optimized the layout of these editions to make it easier for you to view them irrespective of whether you use a tablet or smartphone. Bigger images and sharper text will make it easier for you to read your favorite news and blogs.
The refreshed Currents helps you view headlines with a mere swipe of your finger on your tablet or smartphone screen. A vertical swipe lets you browse through headlines and once you read an article, Google will identify it as “read” so as to help you browse through newer content each time you use the app.
The new Currents app also brings to you breaking stories from all over the globe, but based on your interests and customized for your language and country. You can choose these stories from different categories such as Entertainment, World, Science, Lifestyle, Sports, etc. Google Currents also allows you to categorize your content that can be accessed from your sidebar. You can set favorites to appear on top while organizing editions for each category.
You can download the refreshed Google Currents from Google Play. iOS users will be able to use this service in the coming days. Google states that since April 2012, millions of viewers have used Google Currents globally and the refreshed version will make it easier for people to read the latest news, categorize them, and share them with others.
