Google has paid heed to feedback from web-owners owning several websites that wanted ads blocked on specific websites while appearing in others. If you manage more than one website and want to block ads on certain websites then this AdSense feature can help you do the same. This feature will be released by Google within the next few days and can be extremely useful to block specific category of ads. For example, if you manage a business website that sells industrial products and another site selling ladies apparel then you would not wish certain ads appearing on your ladies garments website to appear on your industrial products website or vice versa.
In order to activate the ad blocking feature, you will firstly need to specify the domains and sub-domain owned by you to AdSense. You need to click on ‘Account Settings’ in your ‘Home’ Tab and go to ‘Access and Authorization’. You then need to manually add domains and sub-domains owned by you to the ones that are already present in that list. Or you can choose a website from the sites that automatically appear under the ‘Unclaimed’ section. Once you manually enter the chosen sub-domains then those specific pages will not display the chosen ads while they appear on your top level domain.
You can begin the site level blocking exercise by going to the ‘Allow and Block Ads’ Tab. Several new features such as new horizontal tabs and navigation bar have been added along with the option that allows site level blocking. All sites owned by you will be displayed in the ‘AdSense for Content’ inside the navigation bar. You only need to choose the domains and sub domains from the left side of your screen to block ads. Selecting the ‘All my Sites’ option will enable you to block ads for all your sites.
You will be able to use the General and Sensitive category option to block ads, in case these features are available in your language. You should note that Google has set a limit of 500 URLs for any product wide block list. You should also understand that blocking ads could lower potential revenues.
You can visit the Google AdSense Help Center for more details and visit the AdSense +page if you wish to provide feedback to Google.
