Pinterest had introduced the Rich Pins feature for its users in May 2013. This feature allowed users to “pin” various details about any product that caught their eyes such as information regarding purchase of that product, original website details of that image, recipe details, etc. However, users were unable to know in case of a drop in the price of that product.
Well, Pinterest has solved that dilemma by way of price drop notifications that will be delivered by email to users interested in a particular product. The alerts will be generated automatically and will arrive in the form of email summaries so that users do not face spamming issues.
Pinterest has stated that this new feature will become active for all users in the coming weeks. It seems that the company is well on its way of becoming a serious ecommerce contender since this new feature will attract users as well as marketers towards a common platform. While Pinterest users will get regular updates and will be able to pick up better deals, businesses will try to attract new customers by offering new deals, both of which will benefit Pinterest.
In addition to pinning products of interest, Pinterest users will now receive price drop notifications that will help them actually act upon a pinned item.
