Android has begun rolling out Android Pay on September 10, 2015 – it allows simple and secure way to pay with our Android phone at over one million locations across the US. Android Pays also stores our gift cards, loyalty cards and special offers right on our phone. This evolution will be gradually increasing and will include even more features, banks and store locations in the coming months, making it even easier to pay with our Android phone.
The choice is ours
Android Pay works with all NFC-enabled, Android devices with KitKat 4.4+ and on any mobile network, at every tap and pay ready location across the US. Android Pays currently supports credit and debit cards from the four major payment networks: American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. These cards are issued by many of the most popular US banks and credit unions, including American Express, Bank of America, Discover, Navy Federal Credit Union, PNC, Regions Bank, USA, and U.S. Bank. Many other are coming soon.
Security measures of Android Pays
Android pay has kept security at its center to keep our personal and financial information secure and so it is supported by industry standard tokenization. In this system customer’s credit or debit card number are not sent with our payment. Instead, they will use a virtual account number that provides an extra layer of security. As soon as we make a purchase, we will receive a payment confirmation that shows details of transaction where the payment has actually been made, so it’s easy to catch any suspicious activity. And if our phone is ever lost or stolen, simply use Android Device Manager to instantly lock our device from anywhere, update new password, or even wipe it clean of our personal information.
Coming soon..
Later this year, Android Pays will be used to speed through mobile checkout in our favorite apps. It will also offer a service of transmitting our loyalty cards and special offers with just a tap to some selected merchants. Existing Google Wallet users will be able to access Android Pay through an update to their Wallet app.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed for new features…
